Parameters for Setup of QtraxMax:
Search Connections:
The number of out-going connections used for searching. The higher the number the faster the search- however, bandwidth and download speed may be affected.
Friendliness:
The lower the number the less people can download from your computer. The higher the number the more people can access your files. This gives the user control over the number of people accessing your computer.
Partition Count:
When downloading a file. QTRAXMAX breaks the file down into many partition of equal size in order to download the files from many sources rather than use the one. This helps to greatly reduce the download time and prevents losing files when connections are broken.
Connection/File:
The maximum number of simultaneous downloads per file.
Total Connections:
Represents the number of Gnutella host/servers QTRAXMAX connects to in order to download files.
Restore Defaults:
Restores the settings to the original defaults when the program was installed
Time Out:
All your connections to the Gnutella Network will be cut off after whatever times you have set i.e. 1=1 minute. The default is 0, which keeps you connected unless you click the "stop search maximum download button".
The time out function will not effect any current downloads, but it will cut out the background communication of the Gnutella network.
SEARCHING AND DOWNLOADING
(reproduced from Qtrax.com website)
To search for a media file:
First, in the Search Box, type in the name of the media file you would like to search for. Second, select what type of media file you would like to search for using the Media Sort Radio Buttons below the Search Box (e.g. All, Audio, Images, Video). If you are unsure of the file type, we suggest you leave them all selected. This will return all file types matching your search criteria. Finally, click on the 'Search' button or hit enter on your keyboard.
Popularity:
Click on the Popularity Header once or twice (when there are a large number of search results shown), this will ensure the highest numbers are displayed at the top of the list. Then select those items with the highest number for the files you wish to download. This will maximize your download.
Strength of QTRAXMAX:
Your connection strength to the Gnutella Network is indicated underneath the searching options. If you have "awesome search power" stated then you have full strength searching potential of the Gnutella Network
SEARCH RESULTS WINDOW:
All columns in the Search Results Grid are sortable. You can click in the Column Header (i.e. Popularity, File Name, Type, and File Size) and the search results will be sorted accordingly.
You can scroll through the search results using either the vertical scroll bar or by first selecting a file and then using your down-arrow key on your key board.
File names displayed within the Search Results Window
Once a file appears in the search results grid, it can be downloaded by using either of two methods.
First, you can simply double-click on the file and transfer it to the Download Status Window for downloading.
Second, a user can click on the appropriate file in the Search Results Grid and then click the 'Download File' button. This will transfer the file to the Download Status Grid for downloading.
Popularity:
Click on the Popularity Header once or twice (when there are a large number of search results shown), this will ensure the highest numbers are displayed at the top of the list. Then select those items with the highest number for the files you wish to download. This will maximize your download.
Popularity shows the number of identical files found of a particular download. We recommend you select the file with the highest popularity to download as this increases your chance of a quicker download as well as reducing the changes of a loss of a connection should a computer on the network you are talking to get cut off.
File Name:
This is the full name of the file QTRAXMAX has displayed, based on your search criteria.
